When you upload photos of a card or collectible, Collauth runs it through three steps:
- Identify — we figure out what the item is: the set, number, variant, and (for graded slabs) the grading service and grade.
- Authenticate & grade — our AI examines the photos for signs of alteration, printing inconsistencies, and other red flags, and produces a condition assessment.
- Price — we look up real market prices from trusted sources and combine them into a low–market–high value range, rather than a single guessed number.
What the results mean
- Authentic likelihood — our confidence that the item is genuine, based on everything we could check from your photos.
- Risk level — how much manual review we'd recommend before relying on the result for a high-value trade.
- Condition — an assessment of physical condition (corners, edges, surface, centering).
- Value range — a low/market/high estimate. The market price is our headline number; the range reflects normal price variation across sources.
A note on limitations
This is an evidence-based assessment, not a guarantee. Very low-quality photos, unusual items, or missing market data can reduce confidence. If a result looks off, you can resubmit new photos or request another look.
